About

Shapr3D

Shapr3D is an innovative
3D modeling tool

for industrial designers, engineers, product managers, manufacturers, and other design professionals. But it’s much more than that. Shapr3D is on the mission of reinventing the CAD industry that got stuck in the past. We’re building a 3D modeling app that works for the users, instead of holding them back. We want people to be able to design anywhere they want, the way they want.

We’re dead serious about defining the next 30 years of the industry with our intuitive 3D design product. We don’t want to be something for everyone, we want to be everything for some people. And how do we do it? We listen to our users. We experiment. We’re building a product that breaks the mold.

History

While trying to figure out how to build an iconic product, we started experimenting with the first prototype of Shapr3D. It had a touch-only interface. It didn’t work out.

Our CEO, István Csanády, dreamed big: the world’s most intuitive 3D modeling app running on iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil. We love his vision to this day. We were joined by our first investor Zsolt Weiszbart.
2015
Team size: 1
Shapr3D was launched with the Apple Keynote in March, and we spent the rest of the year making the app usable to a wider audience. We had a steep hill to climb.
2016
Team size: 5
Shapr3D moved to Siemens® Parasolid®, the leading CAD engine, which meant rewriting the app from scratch. This proved to be a turning point.
2017
Team size: 9
We welcomed new investors, InReach Ventures, LifeLine Ventures, Kima Ventures, Ákos Kapui, Bálint Orosz, Tibor Biczó, Carlos Gonzales-Cadenas, and Shane Corstorphine. The numbers started to look good.
2018
Team size: 17
Shapr3D finally got it right. We recorded 6+ months of growing 10–20% a month and raised $6,000,000 backed by another round of investors, Point9 Capital and Creandum. And we had no plan of slowing down.
2019
Team size: 33
Despite the pandemic, our team kept growing steadily, and so did the app. We released 3 new features (3D alignment, AR support, mouse and keyboard support) and scooped up an Apple Design Award.
2020
Team size: 78
We kept firing all cylinders by releasing the 2D Drawings feature early on, and we upped the ante by bringing Shapr3D to macOS and Windows. Shapr3D has officially become a multi-platform CAD tool.

Our values shape the way we work

Product obsession

We’re building an extraordinary product

“I love working at Shapr3D because not only am I able to design a product that's being used by thousands of creative people that create value for others but also because it's a product I can use myself and create value with.”
– Bios, Senior Product Designer
Pragmatism

We’re focusing on outcomes

“Since people at Shapr3D are incredibly focused on building a great product and a great company, we have a very hardworking and direct communication culture. People ultimately want what’s best for our users and the company, so we tell each other in the most efficient way possible when things are going well and when things need to be improved.”

Humbition

We’re at our best as a team

"In each corner of the office, I come across talented and driven people who are nice to hang out with. Everyone is ready to go the extra mile professionally and help each other out, while you can also find common interests with them, be it coffee, dogs, or woodworking."
– Peti, CAD Engineer
Curiosity

We’re learning something new every day

“For me, curiosity is when you’re interested in how things work outside of your business domain. It’s when you want to learn more about the budget, the challenges behind new features, and the scaling-up priorities of the organization. Or even learning how to design a 3D model of the USS Voyager – because why not?”
– Lilla, Talent Acquisition Specialist

The office

Our office is an innovative hub in the heart of Budapest, Hungary. As we live and breathe 3D design, we wanted our physical space to be just as inventive as the app we develop.
